2014年，她参加了美国高校诗歌大赛（national collegiate poetry slam），她的队伍获得了第一名。她还两次获得该大赛的“最佳诗人”称号（类似法国队虽然未能夺得世界杯，但姆巴佩拿到了“金靴奖”。）她还曾经两次获得“美国诗歌学会”（ Academy of American Poets）的奖项。她的诗很多涉及黑人女性的问题，因此她还被尊称为“兼职女祭司（curandera）”，意思是她的诗歌有治愈的能力。可以看出，阿丽亚娜·布朗可以说是最典型，也最顶尖的美国“朗诵诗”作者。
