事实

你知道蚂蚁的触角上
有四个嗅觉器官，
而雌性老鼠也有阴蒂吗？我是从
两个诗人那里学来的：一个是著名美国诗人，
另一个是生理学和物理学出身。

现在什么事都是可能的：

你知道一根草也有腿有脚吗？
这就是为什么它从不安静
而是像一个儿童在老健身房里不停地原地跑步。

你知道月亮会像猫一样
用舌头舔自己吗？它舔啊舔，直到消失
然后重新来过，带着唾液的闪光。

你知道吃大白菜的黄蝴蝶
也有脾气，而风是一个焦急的母亲吗？

每个黄昏，她站在世界透风的门廊里
喊它们回家。

FACTS

Did you know an ant has four
olfactory organs on its antennae;
the female mouse, a clitoris? This I learned
from two poets—one famous and American,
the other a student of biology and physics.

Now anything is possible:

Did you know that grass has legs and feet?
That’s why it’s never still
but runs on the spot like a child in an old gymnasium.

Did you know the moon cleans itself with a tongue
rough as a cat’s? It licks and licks until it disappears
then comes up new again, shiny with spittle.

Did you know the yellow butterflies that feed on cabbage
have a temper; the winds, a worrying mother?

Every dusk she stands in the airy doorway of the world
and calls them home.

事实上，诗中所言可能并非事实。蚂蚁的四个触觉器官和雌鼠的阴蒂，因为出自诗人之口，这“事实”也变得趣味性大于真实性。

事实从来都是对事物之间某种“联系”的呈现，它不是唯一的。诗人看到的事物之间“联系”常常与众人不同。

为什么人们喜欢听诗人笃定的谎言，并不是因为诗人的谎言总是违背人类常识而容易戳穿，而是在这根本就不需识破的谎言背后，有着显而易见却总被人类忽略的某种“联系”，那可能就是一种“事实”。
